A note from our founder

I have lived in Japan for over forty years, most of that working in wellness. It is where I learned to pay attention to what goes into food, and what I found, here and elsewhere, is that a lot of it contains things you would not choose if you stopped to think about them.

That is not a judgment about how anyone eats. I have no interest in telling people what their diet should be. What I wanted was simpler: to make food that tastes good enough that nobody has to ask about the taste, from ingredients as good as we can find, that almost anyone can eat.

Japanese confectionery has never needed to be loud. It is precise, restrained, and built on ingredients chosen carefully and treated properly. That is the tradition we bake in, and it is why domestic rice flour is in nearly everything we make. Rice flour is not a compromise here. It is what the best of Japanese baking has always been built on.

So that is what Plant Farm is. Taste comes first, always. Then Japanese craft, select organic ingredients, sourced as close to home as we can manage. And because it is gluten-free, plant-based and halal-friendly, fewer people have to sit out.

Japan gave me the ingredients, the standards and most of my working life. Plant Farm is what I wanted to give back.
